Semana Santa Explained: Hello friends! We recently got to experience our first Semana Santa in Antigua, Guatemala! Semana Santa means Holy Week in Spanish. (The week leading up to Easter Sunday.) During that week, the people created murals called alfombras or carpets. They were intricately made of sand and flowers. Each family or group of friends who made these, were making these to prepare the way for the procession floats with statues of Jesus, angels, or Mary to be carried over. We got to see many of them being made, and a few of the processions, tried our first street food (cautiously). Families have been making the alfombras for generations to honor Jesus and the Saints. We celebrated Easter Sunday at our church with a sunrise service, followed by a breakfast pot-luck and baptisms after the service. |

School Update: -The school for next year has some big changes. We are going to be called Antigua Christian Academy, at a new location a couple streets from where we are now. -We will also begin allowing students whose parents are not in ministry to apply for admission to our school, as a way to reach and support more families in the community for Christ. -The Principle and Vice Principle of Encounter have decided to step down as they want to focus more on their other ministries and their kids. |

Prayer Requests: -Please pray for the school community as we go through these changes. The new building can host many more students, but the classrooms need to be finished by August. Pray for teams and funds to accomplish everything they need for next year. -Pray for us as we seek to find a house or apartment near the new school location. -Pray for cheap and safe flights, as we book our flights home for the summer break, and that God raises the funds we need during that time. -Praise that we had a safe and exciting school field trip to the zoo! It fell on the science week where we were learning about God’s creation. |
