Hello friends! School restarted, so we finished our Spanish classes for the time being. We were in one-on-one full-immersion classes, which means we could only use Spanish to communicate with our tutors. It is amazing how quickly one can start to think and use a language when it is all you are using. We are able to converse in Spanish a lot better when traveling and speaking with others in Guatemala now. We invited our tutors to the campus for lunch one Sunday, and plan to keep seeing them from time to time. Kaylee is learning Spanish slowly from cartoons and friends at Encounter (she is more willing to learn from her friends). We renewed our visas for another 90 days, we will need to do that a few times. A lawyer helped us through the process, and helped us know what forms we need to gather for our residency visas. |

Encounter Update: We have been able to put our better conversation skills to use while being the hosts this quarter, as many guests who visit here on the weekends speak Spanish. We have met people from Europe and Canada this month as well, and were able to share about God and our ministry to them as well (several were not Christians). Encounter classes resumed, making us both very busy. The older students moved over to House 2 for classes this quarter. Many students and staff of the campus were out sick in the past 2 weeks. Caitlin was one of them. Bradley did his own work, subbed for Caitlin, watched Kaylee, and hosted mostly on his own last weekend. |

Prayer Requests: -Pray: That the students and staff will stop passing around illnesses. -Pray: The students have a field trip day on Feb. 5th, and some of our coworkers go to a ministry retreat that week as well, so pray for travel and new knowledge out of those trips. -Praise: Our monthly support has risen to 88%. -Pray: Bradley’s parents will be visiting us in February, and bringing a bit more of our stuff from the States with them. Pray for their safety and good lodging while they are coming and going from here. -Praise: the crisis in Guatemala regarding the prisons and gangs is over. The Encounter community and our city, Antigua, stayed safe the entire time. |
